Reception
|
Following your ceremony at Blue Skies Inn, newlyweds and officiant will sign your marriage certificate as sparkling cider is poured in champagne flutes for your guests. You may make a toast to each other and others may join in with wishes for your future together. You may bring champagne for a toast if you wish.
You will cut your pretty wedding cake together to share your first sweet meal. The groom holds the knife with the bride's hand on top of his to guide him. We are not a cake-smashing kind of place, so please be nice when offering a bite of cake to your beloved.
Usually, the bride and groom have selected a friend or relative to serve the rest of the cake while they visit with their guests. After family photos have been taken, the bride and groom will be photographed with Pikes Peak in the background, the prettiest mountain in Colorado.

Other photos will be taken by the ancient Briarhurst carriage house, the oldest standing structure in Manitou Springs, built by the founder of the city. The shade under towering cottonwoods by the gently arched bridge at streamside is also a beautiful site for wedding photography.
Upon completion of those photos, the wedding party is usually ready to depart for a wedding dinner at a nearby restaurant. Start to finish, the wedding and reception take about an hour and fifteen minutes.
